Role overview
This position is responsible for preparing baked items in line with recipes, production plans, and quality standards. The role is based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and is a full-time onsite opportunity.
Compensation and hiring notes
Pay will be set according to the candidate’s relevant skills, qualifications, experience, and internal pay alignment. Key duties
- Prepare breads, pies, cakes, cookies, and other pastries based on production and catering sheets, and support planning to meet daily volume needs.
- Use approved recipes, production standards, and the correct equipment to ensure food is made properly.
- Help complete production records, including waste logs, used and unused quantities, and shortages, and alert the supervisor when stock is running low.
- Maintain strong presentation, quality, portion control, and correct serving temperatures for all items.
- Keep equipment, supplies, utensils, and the work area clean, organized, and sanitary.
- Follow food safety rules closely while handling and serving products.
- Clean all equipment and work surfaces thoroughly before moving to other tasks, and keep display equipment free of dirt and debris.
- Work steadily and accurately during busy production and service periods while staying calm and efficient.
- Verify that all food is displayed, served, and presented according to standards.
- Follow sanitation, safety, corporate rules, and OSHA safety requirements for both food and equipment handling.
Qualifications
- A professional baking certificate from an accredited school is preferred, or a comparable mix of education and baking experience is considered an advantage.
- Dependable and able to work flexible schedules.
- Good communication and people skills.
- Comfortable following policies and procedures consistently.
- Self-directed and able to work with limited supervision.
- Capable of working effectively in a fast-paced team setting.
- Physically able to perform the duties required by the job.
