Role overview
This full-time, on-site position in Auckland is responsible for providing high-quality Business Advisory Services to a client portfolio. The role covers the preparation of financial statements and tax returns, as well as collaboration with junior team members and direct coordination with the company directors. The BAS Senior will also prepare management reports, lodge GST returns, train clients on Xero, and support clients as needed. In addition, the role includes producing cash flow forecasts, calculating commissions payable to management, keeping work organised, and bringing a proactive, can-do approach while contributing as part of a team.
Key strengths needed
Success in this position requires strong communication and writing skills, together with the ability to ensure management reports and financial statements are accurate and completed on time. The role also calls for mentoring junior colleagues and sharing knowledge with the wider team.
Qualifications
- Solid analytical ability and prior experience in a BAS Senior capacity, including the preparation of workpapers and management of workflow.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with at least 5 years of New Zealand experience in a BAS Senior role.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a similar discipline; progress toward, or completion of, a professional qualification such as CA or CPA would be an advantage.
- Background in BAS or advisory work, with the ability to prepare reports in Xero and complete tax returns in MYOB AO.
- Intermediate spreadsheet capability and accounting knowledge, plus a strong focus on detail, accuracy, and compliance.
- Proven ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively within an on-site team.
