Role overview
Minor Hotels is an international hospitality group with a portfolio of more than 530 properties across 50+ countries in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, the Indian Ocean, Europe, and South America. This opportunity is based at Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara in Doha, Qatar.
What this role is about
The Beach Guru is responsible for keeping the beach and recreation spaces running smoothly, ensuring the area is clean, organized, safe, and ready for guests at all times. The role also focuses on delivering courteous service, supporting recreational activities, and helping maintain high operational standards.
Key duties
- Work in line with the Recreation Department’s SOPs and task checklists.
- Keep the full recreation zone and back-office areas neat, orderly, and well maintained.
- Complete daily cleaning routines, along with weekly and monthly tasks assigned by the Recreation Supervisor or Assistant Recreation Manager.
- Make sure all equipment is cleaned properly, stored securely, and kept safe when not in use.
- Transport towels to and from laundry and help maintain sufficient stock for operations.
- Support additional hotel tasks when needed, including cross-support in other areas and overnight cleaning.
- Deliver consistently high service standards and behave professionally both during and outside working hours.
- Follow company and department policies and procedures without exception.
- Prepare workstations with the required supplies and keep the area clean throughout the shift.
- Respond to guest needs quickly, politely, and with a calm approach.
- Understand the recreation activities, events, and related services in full.
- Provide amenities to club and hotel guests according to SOPs or supervisor instructions.
- Ensure guest amenities remain available at all times.
- Carry out all items on the daily task list and checklist.
- Maintain a tidy and clean work area at all times.
- Join work-related project teams when required.
- Build and sustain a positive working relationship with other departments.
- Know the hotel’s products and services thoroughly, especially sports, leisure activities, and equipment.
- Follow correct accounting steps when collecting or charging recreation-related fees.
- Be ready to take on additional recreation responsibilities as assigned by management.
- Contribute to departmental revenue generation.
Additional information
Applicants should be prepared for flexible support duties, including tasks outside the core recreation area when required by management. The role also expects familiarity with hotel leisure offerings and operational discipline in handling guest-facing services and fee collection.
