Sezzle is a publicly listed fintech company founded in 2016 and based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It operates in the United States and Canada with a mission to help the next generation gain greater financial flexibility. The company combines technology with interest-free installment payments to create a smoother shopping experience, improve merchant conversion, and drive larger order values. Sezzle has around 400 employees and contractors, with annual gross revenue above $450 million and net income above $133 million, based on its 2025 Annual Report.

Role overview

Sezzle is hiring a Call Report Manager to lead bank-specific regulatory reporting as its banking operations expand. This position is central to building the reporting function from the ground up and offers the chance to work in a fast-moving environment with meaningful ownership and growth potential.

As the primary owner and subject matter expert for bank regulatory filings, you will oversee Call Reports and related submissions, working closely with Finance, Legal, Compliance, and executive leadership to ensure all filings are accurate, on time, and compliant. The role also involves creating the processes, controls, and infrastructure needed to support Sezzle’s growing banking business.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the full preparation and submission cycle for bank regulatory filings, including FFIEC Call Reports (031/041/051) and other reports required by the OCC, FDIC, and additional regulators.
  • Design and manage the reporting structure, including deadlines, data collection processes, reconciliation steps, and internal controls that support completeness and accuracy.
  • Apply regulatory reporting guidance from FFIEC, OCC, FDIC, and Federal Reserve instructions to Sezzle’s business model, including proper treatment of BNPL-related assets, liabilities, income, and capital.
  • Track updates to reporting rules, thresholds, schedules, and interpretive guidance, and incorporate required changes into the reporting process.
  • Work across Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, Legal, Compliance, and Engineering to gather data, address reporting questions, and keep regulatory filings aligned with GAAP financial statements.
  • Assist with regulatory reviews and audits by organizing supporting materials, answering examiner questions, and helping remediate issues when needed.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and consultants on regulatory reporting topics such as agreed-upon procedures and attestation work.
  • Document policies, procedures, and methodologies for regulatory reporting to strengthen SOX compliance and preserve institutional knowledge.
  • Use technology and automation to improve reporting quality, speed, and scalability, including AI and modern tools for data gathering, validation, and submission.
  • Advise leadership on the reporting impact of new products, strategic initiatives, and changes in banking operations.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in bank regulatory reporting, including direct responsibility for preparing and filing FFIEC Call Reports.
  • Strong practical knowledge of FFIEC instructions, report schedules, and regulatory capital calculations.
  • Experience with OCC-supervised national banks or de novo bank reporting is a major advantage.
  • Solid command of U.S. GAAP and the ability to connect GAAP reporting with regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven experience improving or building regulatory reporting processes, controls, and reporting infrastructure.
  • Comfort using regulatory reporting platforms, advanced Excel, and ideally data visualization or automation tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong record of producing accurate filings that are ready for examination.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to explain complex reporting requirements to cross-functional teams.
  • CPA, CFA, or a similar professional credential is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required.
  • Hands-on experience using Claude or a similar large language model tool is required; candidates should be comfortable using AI to improve productivity, research, and communication.

Preferred background

  • Experience in a national bank, de novo banking setup, or another OCC-regulated organization.
  • Exposure to reporting during a bank charter application or in early-stage bank operations.
  • Knowledge of consumer lending and BNPL considerations within Call Report reporting.
  • Experience with SOX 404 controls tied to regulatory reporting.
  • Background in fintech, payments, or fast-growing technology companies.
  • Experience deploying or managing regulatory reporting systems such as Axiom, Wolters Kluwer, or similar tools.

Working style

  • Maintain very high standards and consistently raise the quality bar for outcomes and process discipline.
  • Prefer practical, innovative approaches over rigid convention.
  • Act quickly and make decisions with a bias toward speed and sensible risk-taking.
  • Build trust through honest communication, active listening, and respectful collaboration.
  • Challenge decisions thoughtfully when needed, then fully support the final direction.
  • Focus on delivering results with strong quality, timeliness, and persistence through setbacks.

Perks and benefits

  • Unlimited PTO, volunteer hours, and sabbatical options
  • Life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Highly discounted LifeTime gym membership
  • 401(k) plan with a 6% company match
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Opportunity to join a fast-growing fintech company with motivated colleagues

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is $120,000 to $145,000. The final offer may vary depending on education, experience, qualifications, and market alignment. Strong candidates may be considered outside the listed range.
