Role overview
This is a permanent full-time position within customs and foreign trade compliance, based at the Hamburg headquarters. The role is set at 38 hours per week and covers operational customs processing for internal business lines and direct customers.
Core duties
- Prepare export customs declarations in the ATLAS system for internal products and direct clients.
- Advise customers on export declaration matters.
- Classify goods using the electronic customs tariff.
- Create NCTS declarations and track the release and closure process.
- Produce T2L documents via PoUS.
- Issue certificates of origin, EUR.1, and ATR documents.
- Work closely with internal service teams and verify submitted data.
- Handle export control requirements in line with foreign trade regulations.
- Assess and process customs cases according to customs law and foreign trade compliance principles.
- Develop and implement customs-related rules and procedures.
Profile and requirements
- Completed commercial vocational training, ideally in freight forwarding, plus further qualification as a customs declarant or customs manager.
- At least 3 years of experience in customs work, including a minimum of 2 years focused exclusively on import/export declaration tasks.
- Practical experience with the ATLAS customs system.
- Ability to work independently and a strong willingness to take initiative.
- Confident written and spoken English skills.
- German at native-speaker level.
Working conditions
The position requires a 100% workload and a weekly schedule of 38 hours.
