About the role

Westland Insurance Group Ltd. is expanding and is hiring a Data Analyst to support its growing team. This position is based from the Surrey, British Columbia head office in a hybrid setup.

The expected pay range for this role is $62,400 to $78,000 annually, based on qualifications, relevant experience, and internal equity. The standard schedule is 37.5 hours per week. In addition, the company provides a competitive annual short-term incentive plan tied to business performance and key success measures.

What you will do

• Work with IT and other teams to improve data and reporting by understanding current and future analytics needs, as well as business opportunities and risks.
• Identify ways to strengthen data quality, reporting practices, and related processes on an ongoing basis.
• Build models and analysis outputs that help answer business questions and support prioritization of use cases.
• Prepare insights and present findings to a range of audiences, including business partners and leaders.

What we are looking for

• A strong interest in data, reporting quality, and continuous improvement.
• Comfort working collaboratively with others to define and prioritize analytical work.
• Strong numerical ability and a background in math, statistics, or a related field, preferably supported by a bachelor’s degree.
• Ability to explain complex findings clearly to business stakeholders.
• At least 2 years of experience in a data analytics role.
• Hands-on experience with SQL, R, and Python for analysis and modeling.
• Preferred background in property and casualty insurance.
• Preferred exposure to data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or Microsoft Fabric.
• Preferred experience using Git-based version control tools such as GitHub or Azure DevOps.

Eligibility

This opportunity is open to candidates with at least 2 years of experience in data analytics and a relevant academic background in math, statistics, or a related discipline.
