Job Purpose

The Junior Machine Operator is responsible for the systematic and effective operation of the process line and associated equipment. The role focuses on achieving production targets by enhancing line efficiency and minimizing process waste. Key duties include gathering hourly process control data, participating in quality wall meetings, maintaining hygiene and housekeeping standards, and promptly identifying and reporting food safety hazards to management. This position also involves summarizing daily material usage, calculating efficiencies (material, seasoning, oil), and monitoring energy consumption (water, electricity, gas). The operator will manage process workers within their assigned stations, ensure good manufacturing practices are upheld, and operate/control processing equipment to transform raw materials into final products according to key performance indicators (KPIs).

Principal Accountabilities

• Make operational decisions to maximize output and yield conversion.
• Perform necessary repairs and maintenance on processing equipment to sustain line efficiency.
• Possess the authority to halt production in consultation with the Laboratory Technician if output deviates from specifications.
• Operate and maintain processing equipment to convert raw materials into finished goods, meeting KPIs.
• Execute and document hourly process control checks.
• Lead quality wall meetings at scheduled intervals.
• Ensure adequate availability of raw materials near the production line.
• Maintain high standards of equipment hygiene.
• Verify that equipment in assigned work areas is in good working order.
• Ensure the production line meets established business efficiency targets.
• Achieve material efficiency targets set by the business.
• Report daily operational issues to Direct Managers.
• Collect and report material wastage data, summarize daily material usage, and calculate material efficiency.
• Submit maintenance or repair requests for equipment via MP2 to the Engineering department.
• Supervise and manage process workers on the line, including break schedules and cleaning during changeovers.
• Maintain the assigned line or workstation in optimal condition through regular patrols and checklist adherence.
• Report all health hazards in the workplace to the immediate Direct Manager.
• Ensure consistent production of quality products.
• Communicate daily activities and issues to other shifts.
• Promote teamwork and cooperation among staff.
• Support Industrial Process System (IPS) and Food Safety audits.
• Ensure effective utilization of energy resources like water, gas, and electricity.
• Implement, sustain, and participate in the continuous improvement of the EHS Management System, ensuring compliance with legislation, PepsiCo GEHSMS, and relevant EHS standards.
