Role Overview
This position is for a Warehouse & Logistics Manager based in the Windsor / Essex area, supporting a food and agriculture business. The employer is an established food distribution and packaging company looking for someone to oversee warehouse and distribution activities across multiple sites for its North American operations.
The role covers inventory control, movement of internal materials, and repack operations that add value to goods. The main objective is to keep ingredients, packaging, and finished products moving efficiently while meeting targets for service, cost, and compliance.
The successful candidate will manage both on-site and off-site warehouses and distribution centres, helping ensure smooth coordination between warehousing and production. The job also involves strengthening operational performance, improving inventory accuracy, and leading continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the daily running of warehouse and distribution centre activities.
- Maintain accurate inventory records for raw materials, packaging, and finished goods.
- Coordinate material availability and staging so production schedules are supported on time.
- Improve warehouse layout, use of space, and handling efficiency for materials.
- Lead cycle counts, stock reconciliations, and investigation of discrepancies.
- Help ensure throughput aligns with production needs and customer requirements.
- Preserve quality standards while using labour resources effectively.
- Spot and implement improvements in labour productivity, material flow, and automation.
- Handle carrier management, route planning, and freight performance monitoring.
- Control transportation spend and manage freight claims.
- Assist with import/export requirements and customs-related processes.
- Coordinate cross-border logistics and provide support to U.S. operations when required.
- Monitor and report KPIs such as inventory accuracy, material availability, warehouse throughput, labour efficiency, freight cost, and service levels.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts related to inventory issues, service delays, and flow disruptions.
- Promote continuous improvement across warehouse and logistics operations.
Qualifications
- At least 7 years of experience in logistics, warehousing, distribution, or supply chain operations.
- Background leading teams in a busy manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of inventory control systems and warehouse discipline.
- Demonstrated success in improving operations and guiding teams through change.
