Role Overview
FlySafair is looking for a Maintenance Planner to manage aircraft maintenance planning activities, maintain accurate work order records, and support the safe and timely completion of maintenance events. The role is based in the City of Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa.
Key Duties
- Prepare maintenance work packs for upcoming checks, including advance planning for the next check, notifying stores about NDT requirements, and listing components needed for the check.
- Make sure work orders are prepared promptly and passed on to the MRO team.
- Record work order information received from the MRO.
- Open work orders for scheduled maintenance, unscheduled maintenance, and aircraft that are in storage.
- Track all open work orders and follow up until they are completed.
- Check finished work orders for completeness and correctness.
- Close work orders received from outstations once work is complete.
- Close work orders from the MRO after maintenance has been finalised.
- Process component movements linked to MRO work orders.
- Inform relevant departments about findings in work orders and any issues raised by QA/QC.
- Help capture and file ATLRs when needed.
- Coordinate aircraft and component extensions in line with the approved AMP.
- Keep maintenance schedules updated in the relevant systems.
- Support the loading of new components into the MRO system.
- Ensure all components fitted to assigned aircraft are properly tracked and linked to the latest release documentation where required.
- Keep aircraft and major module logbooks up to date.
- Update the maintenance system with ADS and SBS information and ensure ADS, SBS, Eos, and ASBs are complied with on time.
- Share information with other departments whenever requested.
- Issue CRS to service and CRMA documents after maintenance is finished.
- Participate in survey meetings for planned checks.
- Attend post-mortem meetings and contribute improvement ideas.
- Stay informed on the relevant regulations, internal policies, and operational guidelines.
- Work in line with statutory requirements, company standards, policies, and procedures.
- Work with the Maintenance Planning Specialist on scheduling and the downtime required for maintenance.
Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification is required.
- A technical diploma is an advantage.
- Technical trade experience in aviation is an advantage.
- A certificate in maintenance planning is an advantage.
- At least 5 years of experience in aircraft maintenance planning is required.
- Experience using a technical maintenance system is beneficial.
- Must be willing to travel locally and internationally.
- Must be prepared to work overtime.
