About the Company
Babyshop is a major omnichannel retailer for babies and children, serving customers across the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, and India. The business operates more than 250 stores and also maintains a strong digital footprint in 14 markets. For over five decades, it has built a reputation for reliable, value-led products in fashion, nursery, toys, and other baby essentials.
Role Overview
This position is a business development role for the Babyshop e-commerce marketplace. The person in this role will be responsible for expanding the marketplace by onboarding and growing third-party suppliers, new brands, and partner accounts under either a consignment or back-to-back model.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and execute category strategies for external brands in a way that supports Babyshop’s existing private-label business and drives online growth in baby products.
- Bring in and grow third-party vendors, new brands, and marketplace accounts, especially within baby and kids apparel.
- Oversee and fine-tune product listings supplied by external partners.
- Design and implement plans to improve marketplace sales and overall profitability.
- Handle vendor relationships, including commercial negotiations and e-commerce vendor management terms.
- Resolve supplier experience issues quickly, including access to data, payment-related matters, MIS reporting, and promotional planning.
- Coordinate brand support for events and promotional campaigns.
- Develop long-term SKU growth for Babyshop categories in coordination with the internal buying team and aligned business goals.
- Study competitor brands across the GCC region and identify suitable brands for onboarding.
- Determine open-to-buy allocations for consignment and outright brands.
- Manage vendor onboarding, day-to-day account operations, financial reconciliation, and payment follow-up.
- Influence senior stakeholders and align them around the business direction.
- Work closely with in-house private label buying teams to ensure smooth execution.
- Identify and apply improvements that strengthen business value and support growth.
Requirements
- Master’s degree is required.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in e-commerce retail.
- Proven leadership ability.
- Strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation capabilities.
- Experience with launching international brands or introducing a brand into a new market.
