Role Overview

This full-time remote position is responsible for keeping The Gumbo Bros' network and systems environment dependable, secure, and efficient. The role involves overseeing network performance, administering security tools such as firewalls, and making sure connectivity remains stable for all sites and remote employees. It also includes regular system administration work, patching, update management, backup oversight, and documentation of configurations and operating procedures.

Key Duties

Track network health and performance, and take action to keep systems running smoothly.
Administer and strengthen network security, including the setup and monitoring of firewalls and related tools.
Support wired and wireless network environments across locations and remote users.
Carry out routine server and system administration, including user access, permissions, and maintenance tasks.
Install patches, apply updates, and help maintain reliable backups.
Investigate and resolve network or system incidents, outages, and connectivity problems.
Provide technical help to staff and work with vendors or service providers when needed.
Create and maintain accurate documentation, including configurations, diagrams, and standard procedures.
Partner with operations and leadership to support secure and stable business technology.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates should have practical experience in network administration and security, along with server and system management. They should be comfortable troubleshooting technical issues, assisting users, and working with hardware such as routers, switches, and firewalls. Experience with cloud services or VPNs is useful. Clear documentation skills and the ability to communicate well with non-technical colleagues in a remote setting are important. Certifications like CompTIA Network+, Security+, or CCNA are considered advantageous. Experience in multi-location, hospitality, or retail environments is also a plus.
