Purchase Head (Modular Industry)

Role Overview

This position is for a Purchase Head who will lead procurement for a modular manufacturing setup in Coimbatore. The role focuses on keeping raw materials and accessories available on time, controlling costs, and ensuring quality standards are consistently met across the purchase function.

Key Responsibilities

You will oversee sourcing and buying activities for the materials required in modular production, including boards, laminates, edge-bands, hardware, and interior accessories. The role also involves building sourcing plans that protect production continuity, managing supplier relationships, and creating cost-effective supply strategies.

• Handle end-to-end procurement for modular manufacturing inputs such as plywood, MDF, particle boards, laminates, edge-bands, hinges, channels, tandem boxes, and related accessories.
• Create and execute sourcing plans that keep raw material flow aligned with production schedules.
• Find, assess, and appoint dependable vendors and manufacturers from both domestic and overseas markets.
• Lead commercial discussions, secure favorable payment and credit terms, and close annual rate contracts to improve value.
• Carry out supplier reviews and audits based on delivery performance, quality compliance, and pricing competitiveness.
• Work with production, design, and planning teams to estimate material demand accurately.
• Maintain stock levels that prevent production delays while avoiding unnecessary inventory carrying costs.
• Track market movements, commodity trends, and substitute materials to support savings initiatives.
• Ensure that all purchased materials meet premium certified quality expectations.
• Build and standardize purchase SOPs from requisition creation through invoice validation.

Requirements

The role calls for strong experience in procurement leadership within the modular furniture or modular interior sector, along with practical knowledge of materials, vendors, and purchasing systems.

• 8 to 15+ years of experience in purchasing or procurement.
• Substantial experience leading the purchase function specifically in modular furniture or modular interiors.
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a similar discipline.
• Working knowledge of modular manufacturing materials and hardware brands such as Blum, Hettich, and Hafele, along with board and finish variants.
• Hands-on exposure to ERP tools such as SAP, Oracle, or similar inventory platforms.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
• Strong negotiation, contract management, communication, and leadership abilities.

Compensation

The role offers a competitive fixed salary in the range of INR 10,00,000 to 20,00,000 per year, with final compensation depending on experience, capability, and relevant industry background.
