Role Overview
Join the FBI as a special agent and put an accounting or finance background to work in a mission-driven federal law enforcement role. This opportunity is exempt from the federal civilian hiring freeze.
Rather than simply using your technical background in a desk-based finance function, you will apply it to investigative work that supports national security and public safety. The position is designed to strengthen your analytical capabilities through specialized training, hands-on casework, and exposure to advanced tools and high-performing teams.
You will help pursue matters involving cyber threats, terrorism, fraud, and other evolving risks. Along the way, you will develop leadership capability, sharpen financial analysis and reconciliation skills, and work in an environment that supports professional growth and employee well-being.
Major Duties
- Lead and support investigations related to possible violations of federal law, cybersecurity incidents, and threats to public safety.
- Apply sound judgment, flexibility, and initiative when handling complex investigative requirements.
- Build and sustain working relationships with federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and international law enforcement partners.
- Keep a sufficient level of physical fitness to remain ready for law enforcement responsibilities.
How to Apply
Submit your interest through the FBIJobs Careers website by selecting the application option and following the step-by-step process. You must complete every section of the form and attach all required documents for your application to be considered complete.
Required documents include a resume that clearly lists relevant experience with start and end dates. The resume must be no longer than two pages. Additional supporting documents may include college transcripts if education is being used to qualify, or if a positive education requirement applies. Veterans should provide DD 214, while disabled veterans should provide DD 214, SF-15, and a VA letter dated 1991 or later.
Please follow the document-upload instructions provided in the application portal.
Salary
The pay range for this position is $103,236 to $133,200. Compensation may vary based on base pay, locality, and availability pay.

All qualified applicants will be considered without discrimination based on color, race, religion, national origin, marital status, parental status, physical or mental disability, genetic information, age (40 or older), sex, pregnancy or related conditions, or any other nonmerit factor unless otherwise authorized by law.
