Role overview
This position sits within Engineering & Facilities at JW Marriott in Doha, Qatar. It is a full-time, non-management role based on-site at the Conference Centre Street, West Bay location.
What you will do
You will take responsibility for keeping hotel tools, appliances, and equipment in proper working condition. The role includes preventive upkeep, calibration of gauges and controls, identifying and operating shut-off valves, and arranging the order, tagging, and storage of parts and supplies. You will also help maintain inventory records and purchase-order logs, inspect equipment and machinery, and use computer systems to enter and retrieve work-related information.
Other duties include operating power lift equipment, completing life-safety checks such as fire-pump and generator run tests, inspecting fire sprinkler valves and alarm systems, and supporting the creation of disaster response procedures. You will also handle guest repair requests in a timely manner.
Team leadership and service expectations
The role involves supporting management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and coaching team members. You will be expected to follow company, safety, and security procedures; report maintenance issues, hazards, incidents, or injuries; and complete required safety training and certifications.
Professional presentation, confidentiality, clear communication, and strong guest service are essential. You will be expected to greet guests in line with company standards, respond to their needs proactively, assist guests with disabilities, maintain constructive working relationships, support team goals, and help improve efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and cost control wherever possible.
Physical and workplace requirements
This position requires frequent movement and hands-on work, including reaching above shoulder height and below the knees, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. You must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and place items weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. The work also involves handling objects of different sizes and weights, standing, sitting, or walking for long periods, and moving up and down stairs or service ramps.
Preferred background
A Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree is preferred. The employer is seeking candidates with at least 2 years of relevant work experience and at least 2 years of supervisory experience. No license or certification is required.
