Role Overview

In this Perth-based Data Analyst position, you will act as the main technical expert and a trusted advisor for client projects. The role focuses on turning complex data problems into scalable analytics solutions that are ready for production and useful to senior decision-makers. You will collaborate with C-suite executives and business leaders, shaping solution design and delivery across ETL workflows, dashboards, and analytics.

Key Responsibilities

• Run structured discovery sessions to uncover hidden needs, understand current data environments, and define a solution scope tied to client outcomes.
• Design and deliver scalable ETL workflows that move information from source systems into usable insights.
• Create interactive dashboards and visual reports that help different business audiences understand complex data.
• Build calculation logic and algorithms that accurately reflect business rules and complex formulas.
• Prepare clear solution documentation that supports adoption, transparency, and long-term maintenance.
• Lead client discussions with executives and senior stakeholders, including technology evaluation, solution shaping, and delivery guidance.
• Own engagements from scoping through final approval, while managing quality, deadlines, and documentation independently.
• Balance multiple billable client assignments and maintain delivery pace aligned to team utilisation targets.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or another data-focused field.
• 3 to 5 years of practical experience in data analysis or a similar role, ideally in client-facing or stakeholder-facing work.
• Hands-on exposure to ETL and analytics tools such as Microsoft Fabric, KNIME, Alteryx, DataRobot, or DataIku.
• Proven ability to design computational logic and algorithms for complex business calculations.
• Strong reporting and visualisation skills using Power BI and/or Tableau.
• Database knowledge in one or more platforms such as SQL Server, Snowflake, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
• Confident communication skills for presenting insights and leading technical conversations with executives.
• Good project management and problem-solving ability, with experience handling several engagements at once.
• Willingness to travel domestically or internationally around 3 to 4 times each year.
• Legal right to work in Australia.
• Comfortable using AI tools responsibly for tasks such as research, drafting, or checking data.
• Quick learner with an adaptable approach as tools and workflows change.
• Curious, open-minded, and collaborative when working with teams and technology.
• Preferred: postgraduate study such as a Masters or PhD in Data Science or Business Administration.
• Preferred: experience with machine learning, predictive modelling, or image processing.
• Preferred: coding experience involving REST APIs for pipelines or analytics delivery.
• Preferred: familiarity with advanced statistical or algorithmic techniques applied to business problems.
• Preferred: exposure to enterprise data architecture or multi-platform evaluations in consulting or professional services.

Success Milestones

Within 30 days, you should understand the platform, customer base, and team operating style, complete onboarding, and begin contributing to active work.

By 90 days, you are expected to work independently, own deliverables from start to finish, and develop connections across teams and regions.

By 6 months, you should have contributed visibly to meaningful improvements, delivered something of value, or played a role in an important decision.
