Field Operator - Energy

Job summary

This role is responsible for keeping gas and steam turbines, HRSG units, potline rectifiers, related plant equipment, and the associated utility services running reliably in the assigned area. The work must be carried out safely and efficiently while following instructions from the Shift Supervisor or the Main Control Room Operator.

Key accountabilities

The position requires consistent operational oversight of plant and equipment, with an emphasis on safety, efficiency, and timely response to instructions.

• Operate all equipment under your control in a manner that is both safe and efficient.
• Follow all instructions promptly and accurately.
• Take regular routine readings of plant parameters and report any deviations.
• Escalate equipment issues or abnormal conditions to the Supervisor or control room without delay.
• Ensure standby machinery is ready for immediate use in case of an emergency.
• Support routine testing and re-commissioning activities after maintenance shutdowns.
• Follow safe work methods to protect yourself and the plant.
• Recognize hazards and actively participate in the reporting process.
• Keep the work area clean and well organized.
• Be fully familiar with emergency procedures for the equipment in the assigned area.
• Carry out on-the-job learning and training as required.
• Work continuously to improve competency and technical capability.

Site-specific note

For the Jebel Ali Site roles of Operator Turbine & Boiler and Assistant Operator, the duties listed above are limited to gas turbines, steam turbines, the connected plant equipment, and related utility systems.

Qualifications and experience

Applicants should have completed Higher Secondary School Certificate education. A minimum of 4 years of experience in a power station is required, along with 2 years of work experience as a Desalination Operator (PG7) or comparable experience in a similar industry.

Skills and competencies

The successful candidate should already have competence in all areas except DCR operation. Strong English ability is needed for preparing and completing shift reports, at an Intermediate 3 level or equivalent. The role also calls for good communication, numeracy, single-line diagram interpretation, IT literacy, problem solving, planning and organizing, interpersonal effectiveness, and teamwork.
