Role overview

Living Waters Medical Solutions Limited is expanding its primary care team and is looking for General Practitioners, GP Registrars and Nurse Practitioners to work across Whanganui and Palmerston North. A broad mix of working styles is available, including full-time, part-time, permanent, contract, locum, remote, hybrid and flexible session-based arrangements.

Who this role suits

Applications are invited from General Practitioners, GP Registrars, doctors who are currently training in general practice or considering it as a future career path, and Nurse Practitioners with experience in primary care. Fellows and Members of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners are also encouraged to express interest.

About the team and workplace

This is a community-oriented primary care environment focused on delivering care that is accessible, practical and high quality. The organisation offers roles in regional communities with a strong emphasis on flexibility and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. You will be working alongside an established support network that includes GPs, Nurse Prescribers, Practice Nurses, reception and administration staff, and operational leaders.

The team can also assist with GP training, and welcomes doctors who are already in training or are thinking about moving into general practice.

Key duties

Based on your scope, experience and agreed working pattern, the position may involve general consultations in primary care, assessment of both urgent and routine presentations, long-term condition management, preventative care, review of test results, repeat prescribing, follow-up care, and telehealth or remote consultations where suitable. You will also work collaboratively with the wider clinical and support teams.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate will be a registered General Practitioner, GP Registrar, doctor in GP training or considering general practice, or a Nurse Practitioner committed to delivering excellent primary care.

Applicants should ideally have current New Zealand registration and a practising certificate, or be eligible to obtain these. Experience in general practice, urgent care or primary care is preferred. Strong clinical judgement, clear communication, a practical mindset and a patient-first approach are important. A commitment to accessible and quality healthcare is also expected.

Overseas applicants may apply, provided they meet the relevant New Zealand registration and practising requirements.

Experience with Indici is useful but not mandatory.

Remuneration is competitive at $100 to $170 per hour, depending on experience, scope, availability and the agreed arrangement.
