Role Overview

The Niagara Falls Bridge Commission (NFBC) manages and operates the Rainbow Bridge, Whirlpool Rapids (Lower) Bridge, and the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge. Its purpose is to support safe and efficient border crossings on the lower Niagara River, helping the movement of people and goods and supporting commerce.

The organization is hiring Grounds Maintenance staff for its Toll and Maintenance teams. The role is split across both the Maintenance and Toll/Traffic departments at the Rainbow, Whirlpool, or Lewiston-Queenston Bridges.

The pay for this position is $19.20 per hour.

Key Duties

• Carry out routine cleaning and housekeeping tasks such as sweeping, mopping, waxing, dusting, and emptying waste bins.
• Be available to work day, afternoon, and midnight shifts, seven days a week.
• Support basic maintenance and preventive upkeep activities.
• Handle landscaping tasks including mowing, trimming, planting, pruning, and weeding.
• Classify tolls correctly, maintain records, and collect the required amounts.
• Track traffic movement and stop, hold, or reroute vehicles when needed.
• Coordinate with Customs and other authorities whenever required.

Candidate Profile

• High school diploma is required.
• About two years of general maintenance experience is preferred, though this is not mandatory.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, is needed.
• A clean and valid driver’s license is required.
• Must complete a pre-employment physical, drug and alcohol screening, and background check.

Working Conditions

• The job involves working indoors and outdoors, including at heights.
• You may need to work underneath the bridge deck and on aerial lifts.
