About the Role
This contract opportunity is for a Lead Data Analyst joining a team focused on delivering data-led solutions for important business programmes. The role is senior in nature and blends hands-on analysis with stakeholder coordination, requirements discovery, solution shaping, and delivery support.
You will sit between business and technology groups, partnering with stakeholders to clarify needs, examine complex data, outline analytical solutions, and help see projects through to implementation. The position suits someone who enjoys tackling complex problems, working with multiple stakeholders, and owning delivery across the full lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct data analysis work that supports strategic programmes and operational enhancements
- Collect, interpret, and record business and technical needs from stakeholders
- Carry out data mapping, data checks, and impact analysis to inform design and implementation
- Work alongside engineering and development teams to support delivery and address data issues
- Examine data and system problems, identify root causes, and help drive fixes to completion
- Plan and run testing approaches so that solutions align with business and technical expectations
- Create dashboards, reports, and visual outputs in Power BI to aid decision-making
- Track scope, changes to requirements, and delivery expectations throughout project phases
- Run workshops, stakeholder discussions, and requirements sessions
- Prepare documentation covering business processes, data movements, functional needs, and deliverables
- Serve as a main contact point for business users, technical teams, and project stakeholders
- Help improve standards for data analysis, reporting, governance, and delivery
- Contribute to Agile ways of working, including planning, prioritisation, and project ceremonies
Requirements
- Background as a Lead Data Analyst, Senior Data Analyst, Business Analyst, or in a closely related role
- Strong working knowledge of SQL and Python for analysis and problem-solving
- Substantial experience in requirement discovery, data mapping, and business process analysis
- Experience investigating data quality, reporting, or system issues and resolving them effectively
- Hands-on experience building dashboards and visualisations in Power BI
- Exposure to testing activities, test planning, and validation of requirements
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence in technical and non-technical settings
- Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving ability
- Proven ability to lead work from discovery through to successful delivery
- Comfort working collaboratively across multiple functions
- Desirable: experience with Microsoft Azure
- Desirable: experience in Agile delivery environments
- Desirable: knowledge of business process modelling and workflow design
- Desirable: experience facilitating workshops and stakeholder sessions
- Desirable: exposure to project delivery and change management practices
- Desirable: familiarity with modern data platforms, reporting tools, and analytics ecosystems
