Role Overview

As a Learning Architect, you will serve as the strategic planner who converts business objectives into learning systems that deliver measurable impact. You will lead clients from the initial discovery stage through launch, building learning roadmaps that connect organizational goals, learner needs, and performance outcomes.

You will evaluate business pressures, skill gaps, learner needs, and workplace realities, then turn that insight into solutions that combine digital learning, live experiences, reinforcement, and evaluation. In this role, you will help shape the full learning design before development begins, ensuring the strategy is practical, compliant, and aligned with the real-world environment.

Externally, you will act as a trusted advisor who can explain complex ideas clearly and defend design decisions with confidence. Internally, you will strengthen the team’s strategic thinking by mentoring colleagues, improving standards, and raising the quality of the work.

Client Discovery and Strategic Consultation

• Run discovery workshops, stakeholder interviews, and curriculum-mapping discussions to uncover business objectives, learner expectations, competency gaps, and measures of success.
• Assess performance problems and recommend learning or performance support solutions that fit client priorities.
• Turn detailed business and learner inputs into clear strategic recommendations.

Learning Strategy and Architecture

• Develop high-level learning strategies, program structures, learner journeys, and recommendations for digital, live, blended, and performance-support formats.
• Create architecture documents, journey maps, and solution blueprints that steer the project from concept to delivery.
• Recommend the best combination of modalities, sequencing, reinforcement, and measurement based on audience, context, timeline, and budget.
• Ensure solutions reflect adult learning principles, client brand requirements, and any regulatory or compliance needs.

Solution Planning and Proposal Support

• Work with business development and internal leaders to define scopes, budget assumptions, level-of-effort estimates, and proposal wording.
• Present solution ideas and the reasoning behind them to both internal teams and client stakeholders.
• Weigh trade-offs among scope, schedule, budget, and learner impact.

Team Leadership and Design Guidance

• Direct writers, designers, developers, and project teams as they turn strategy into tangible deliverables.
• Offer feedback, direction, and coaching during concept development and design.
• Act as a senior voice on solution quality, practicality, and alignment with the approved strategy.

Measurement Strategy and Optimization

• Design measurement plans that connect learning outcomes to business or performance goals.
• Identify relevant KPIs, assessment methods, and data points for evaluation.
• Review post-launch results and suggest strategic refinements or future enhancements.

Innovation and Best Practices

• Look for opportunities to use modern learning methods, emerging technologies, and innovative design approaches when they add real value.
• Help build internal standards, frameworks, templates, and playbooks that improve the organization’s design capability.
• Share expertise and help advance strategic design thinking across the team.

Qualifications and Experience

• A graduate degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Adult Learning, Organizational Development, or a closely related discipline is preferred; comparable experience may be accepted instead.
• At least 8 years of experience building learning solutions, curriculum architectures, or capability-building programs, ideally in regulated industries.
• Strong background in needs analysis, discovery, and strategic solution design.
• Proven ability to create end-to-end learning architectures across several delivery formats.
• Experience presenting to senior stakeholders and translating complex requirements into practical learning strategies.
• Solid understanding of adult learning science, curriculum design, measurement strategy, and learning technology ecosystems.
• Familiarity with LMS/LXP platforms, eLearning production workflows, and current learning tools.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence others without direct authority.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• Strong organizational judgment and the ability to manage several complex workstreams at once.
• Willingness to travel occasionally, up to 10%, for client workshops, presentations, and strategic planning sessions.
