Overview

Marin Skincare is hiring a high-impact Project Manager to add structure, ownership, and pace to its product development work in Portland, Maine. In this role, you will sit at the intersection of Product, Operations, and Marketing and take end-to-end ownership of the Stage Gate process for all product initiatives, including new skincare launches, flavor extensions, and limited-edition merchandise. The position calls for someone who is highly organized, detail-focused, and comfortable building systems in an environment where processes are still evolving.

You will be the execution lead that keeps development moving from idea to market by maintaining timelines, coordinating stakeholders, aligning resources, managing accountability, improving workflows, and removing blockers before they slow progress.

Product Roadmap & Stage Gate Ownership

  • Take charge of Marin’s Stage Gate workflow across active product initiatives so work advances smoothly from concept through launch.
  • Keep roadmaps current every day with clear visibility into status and milestones across formulation, sourcing, testing, manufacturing, and launch readiness.
  • Lead weekly product development meetings that keep timelines aligned and drive clear next steps, ownership, and follow-through.
  • Act as the main reminder and coordination point so stakeholders stay aligned on priorities, timing, and deliverables.
  • Spot bottlenecks, missing information, and acceleration opportunities early while protecting quality and strategic alignment.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Coordinate with contract manufacturers, formulation partners, testing labs, packaging suppliers, fragrance houses, consultants, and other outside partners involved in development.
  • Manage sourcing work across primary packaging such as tubes, jars, and pumps, as well as secondary packaging, component parts, samples, merchandise, and related materials.
  • Support internal product testing and extension testing, including team reviews, customer panels, third-party testing, and clinical studies.
  • Partner closely with Marketing and Operations to manage the handoff from development into launch preparation, keeping information, materials, and timing aligned for strong launches.

Process Building, Optimization, and Execution

  • Create and improve systems, trackers, SOPs, and documentation that make execution more scalable and improve the success rate of ideas becoming launches.
  • Set up clear workflows, decision paths, and communication routines so teams can move faster with confidence and alignment.
  • Look ahead to potential gaps, risks, and inefficiencies, then put practical fixes in place before they become problems.
  • Own the operational systems that keep people aligned, projects moving, and product development continuously improving.

What Success Looks Like

The ideal candidate acts like an intrapreneur, follows through consistently, and naturally brings order to ambiguity. You should be comfortable managing many moving parts at once, communicating clearly across personalities and functions, and staying positive, curious, humble, and adaptable while helping the team win.

Experience and Skills

You should bring 3 to 5+ years of experience in project management and/or product development. The role also requires strong experience coordinating multiple projects, deadlines, stakeholders, and dependencies in a fast-moving setting, with a sharp eye for detail.

Success in this role also depends on excellent written and verbal communication, the ability to work through uncertainty, and comfort building processes from scratch. Experience with project workflow tools such as Asana, Monday.com, or Notion is important, along with a background in creating and maintaining plans, trackers, documentation, SOPs, approval logs, and operational processes.

Experience in beauty, skincare, manufacturing, or consumer products is preferred, as is prior work with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and supply chain or product development partners. Startup, lean team, or rapid-growth experience is also preferred.

Equal Opportunity

Marin Skincare is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate or tolerate harassment based on race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability, genetics, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other protected characteristic under applicable federal, state, or local law.
