About the role
MongoDB’s Drivers Documentation group is a collaborative, highly engaged team of engineers and writers focused on helping developers learn how to work with data and build software. The team is hiring a Technical Writer, Drivers to produce top-tier documentation for developer-facing products, especially MongoDB Drivers and Connectors.
This role partners closely with engineering and product teams to create documentation that supports developers at every stage of their careers. The content reaches a large global audience each month and is used to help build microservices, backend services, line-of-business applications, and other software that powers critical workloads.
This position is based in Dublin and follows a hybrid working model.
Documentation areas
- MongoDB Drivers, including Node, Java, Go, .NET/C#, and additional supported drivers
- MongoDB Spark Connector
- MongoDB Queryable Encryption and Client-Side Field Level Encryption
What you will do
- Work alongside technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand and meet user documentation needs
- Investigate product behavior and confirm functionality through hands-on testing
- Create sample applications and code examples that help users start projects quickly or revisit syntax with ease
- Author documentation for MongoDB Drivers and Connectors used by developers every day
- Build internal tools that improve how content is created and maintained
What we are looking for
We are seeking someone with at least 3 years of combined experience across technical writing, developer advocacy, and/or software engineering. The ideal candidate has either built and shipped modern line-of-business applications or contributed extensively to complex documentation websites, ideally in a docs-as-code setup.
You should enjoy creating excellent developer education content, be motivated by helping other developers succeed, and be comfortable exploring unfamiliar technical topics in depth before teaching them clearly. A growth mindset, openness to feedback, and empathy for developers with different levels of experience are all important for success in this role.
Success milestones
- By 3 months, you should be comfortable with the tools and writing standards and be able to use them to create new MongoDB Drivers and Connectors content after completing required technical onboarding.
- By 6 months, you should have enough product knowledge to suggest and deliver new projects, build strong cross-functional relationships, and apply MongoDB’s writing style and coding best practices in your own work and in reviews of others’ work.
- By 12 months, you should own a subject area, estimate and deliver related work independently, and complete a full annual cycle of performance and development conversations with your manager.
