Airfield Driving Program Manager

Role Overview

The Airfield Driving Program Manager will take ownership of the Airfield Driving Program at Al Udeid Air Base. The role focuses on making sure vehicles and equipment operate safely, lawfully, and effectively on the airfield while aligning with U.S. Air Force, DoD, host-nation, and installation-specific rules. This person acts as the key expert for airfield driving activities and provides guidance, training oversight, and compliance management for all approved airfield drivers.

Key Duties

• Direct the installation Airfield Driving Program in line with Air Force Instructions, DoD requirements, and local procedures.
• Act as the main contact and technical authority for all airfield driving issues.
• Create, update, and enforce driving policies, procedures, and standard operating instructions.
• Manage training, testing, certification, and licensing for military, civilian, and contractor drivers.
• Work with Airfield Management, Safety, Security Forces, Wing Safety, and host-nation counterparts to support safe operations.
• Carry out routine reviews, audits, and inspections to verify compliance and reduce operational risk.
• Look into driving incidents, rule violations, and mishaps, then document findings and recommend fixes.
• Keep complete records for driver qualifications, training status, suspensions, revocations, and reinstatements.
• Brief leadership on trends, hazards, and recommended airfield driving practices.
• Guide, supervise, and coach staff or instructors assigned to the program.
• Apply force protection, safety, and operational risk management principles throughout program execution.

Education and Experience

• A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification is required.
• At least 1 year of experience as a licensed airfield driver with no prior revocations is needed.
• Applicants should understand airfield layouts, markings, lighting, signage, and controlled movement areas.
• The candidate must be able to read, interpret, and apply Air Force and DoD aviation regulations and guidance.

Additional Requirements

• A valid U.S. driver’s license is mandatory.
• A valid U.S. passport is preferred.
• The applicant must satisfy all current USCENTCOM deployment policy requirements under USCENTCOM APR 23 MOD EIGHTEEN to USCENTCOM individual and individual-unit deployment policy.
• The candidate must be able to obtain and keep a valid Qatar residency visa.
• This position requires the ability to work in harsh environmental conditions, including dust and high temperatures.
• The role involves long working hours and exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
• Travel is required at 100% in a deployed location.
• A DoD Secret Clearance is required and must be maintained.
