About the Role
Poppulo is looking for a Business Development Representative to support growth by creating new sales opportunities and managing the early stages of prospect engagement. The role sits within a fast-growing software business focused on employee communications, workplace technology, customer communications, and workplace experience at enterprise scale. The company serves more than 6,000 organizations, reaches over 35 million employees, and delivers content to more than 500,000 digital signs.
This position places greater emphasis on inbound sales activity than outbound work. It involves first-touch outreach, follow-up, cold calling, email outreach supported by sales enablement tools, and social selling to help secure meetings. The representative will also handle initial exploratory conversations with prospects and qualify opportunities before passing them to the Enterprise Sales team using BANT criteria. The role reports to the Business Development Manager and works closely with Account Executives as well as teams across Marketing, Sales Operations, and Product.
Poppulo encourages applicants to apply even if they do not meet every requirement, and values diverse perspectives and an inclusive environment where people can grow.
Key Responsibilities
- Build a strong understanding of customer profiles, buyer needs, and market pain points.
- Reach out to prospects through phone calls and email across several functions and departments.
- Identify, qualify, and hand over opportunities to the sales team using BANT qualification.
- Create, refine, and tailor call scripts, email templates, and outreach sequences.
- Use social selling methods to find and engage potential leads.
- Keep CRM records accurate and up to date with detailed notes.
- Work with colleagues to develop and test new approaches for attracting target accounts.
- Track industry trends, market movements, competitor activity, and relevant news.
- Learn and apply prospecting tools, platforms, and sales technologies.
- Participate in networking, in-person meetings, and other lead-generation efforts.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in an inbound- or outbound-focused BDR, Sales Account Executive, or comparable role.
- Comfort and experience with cold outreach by email and phone.
- Strong research ability and a careful eye for detail.
- Proven history of meeting monthly and quarterly targets.
- Background in a busy technology environment with flexibility to handle varied responsibilities.
- Third-level qualification in a relevant field.
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and self-driven approach.
- Good judgment and decision-making ability.
- Ability to switch smoothly between creative and analytical thinking.
- Previous enterprise-level prospecting experience in a B2B SaaS setting is preferred.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to build strong working relationships across teams.
- Interest in helping create an innovative, supportive, and team-oriented culture.
- Commitment to talent development and professional growth.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual gross base salary is EUR 40,000 to EUR 47,000, plus variable pay. The final offer may depend on qualifications, skills, competencies, and location. Compensation may also include variable compensation and short-term incentives.
Benefits mentioned include health insurance with multiple options, accident and life insurance, access to leading learning and development platforms, flexible work arrangements, flexible PTO, 10 days of paid leave, competitive medical/dental/vision coverage, monthly Health Savings Account contributions, a 401(k) with employer match, maternity, parental, adoption and bereavement leave, funding toward adoption costs, and life insurance.
