CAN Driver

Role overview

This is an interview-based opening with FedEx Canada for a CAN Driver. The position supports management in coordinating daily sort, delivery and pickup work, along with remote domicile location and feeder operations where needed. The role also involves leading the assigned sector, promoting effective operating practices, and setting an example for hourly team members through mentoring, strong communication, conflict handling, and leadership delivered through best-practice methods.

What you will do

You will help oversee day-to-day operations, guide team members on the floor, and support smooth delivery and pickup activity. The position requires balancing operational priorities, delegating work in a time-sensitive setting, and contributing to a safe and efficient work environment. Additional tasks may be assigned as business needs change.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities

The role calls for a solid understanding of FedEx products, service features, and general operational processes. Candidates must hold a valid driver’s licence with a clean driving record and be able to complete all initial and refresher training, including DG specialist certification, while keeping that accreditation current through annual recurrency training. Ongoing familiarity with best practices and defensive driving/process updates is also expected.

The position requires the physical ability to lift up to 70 lbs and to move packages weighing as much as 150 lbs using the appropriate equipment. Knowledge of Federal Express operations and Canadian Customs regulations is considered an asset.

Strong communication and interpersonal abilities are important, along with the ability to coach, motivate, and train employees on the job. Candidates should also bring good analytical thinking, problem-solving, prioritization, organization, customer relations, and teamwork skills.

Education and experience

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Applicants need at least one year of current courier experience. Previous development in the Excel personal development stream is preferred.

The job may require work in a Windows environment, completion of required tests and mandatory training, successful completion of periodic training, maintenance of annual accreditations where applicable, and working across different shifts based on operational needs. For Quebec-based employees, bilingual ability in French and English is required. For roles where driving is a core function, candidates must have a valid licence such as class 5, G, or 1[AZ], and no more than two infractions and/or accidents in the 24 months before applying. Selection also considers the annual driving record, interview performance, and results of driving assessments.
