Role summary
This is a fixed-term, hands-on site assistant / carpenter opportunity on a new McDonald’s restaurant project in Penticton, BC. The building is a ground-up, single-storey, wood-frame quick-service restaurant located at 698 Eckhardt Ave W. The role supports the Site Superintendent in keeping day-to-day site activities organized and productive until project completion.
Project term and site details
- Project location: Penticton, British Columbia
- Work arrangement: Fully on-site
- Assignment length: Approximately July 27, 2026 through October 31, 2026, aligned with the construction schedule; the term may be extended
- Shift pattern: Day shift
- Additional scheduling needs: Evening, night, or weekend work may be required depending on project demands
- Applicant location requirement: Candidates must live locally or be able to commute reliably to Penticton for the full project duration
Key duties
- Support the Site Superintendent with keeping the site operating efficiently
- Carry out general carpentry and handyman work, including backing, hoarding construction, formwork, and other site assistance as needed
- Help maintain a clean, organized site so trades can work safely and efficiently
- Coordinate with trades in advance of scheduled work to confirm readiness and maintain progress
- Complete daily hazard assessments, site inspections, sign-in sheets, and trade orientations in line with the COR Safety Program
- Capture progress photos and assist with daily logs and project documentation in Procore
- Assist in closing out deficiencies and finishing remaining items at the end of the project

Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in the construction industry
- Carpentry certification or a trade qualification is considered an advantage
- Apprentices at Level 1, 2, or 3 are welcome, as are Red Seal Carpenters
- Strong practical understanding of construction methods, materials, tools, machinery, and trade sequencing
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good communication and problem-solving skills when working with supervisors, coworkers, and subcontractors
- Comfort with Procore, or a willingness to learn it for logs and photo documentation
- Independent transportation and the ability to travel to the Penticton site are required
Compensation and benefits
The pay range for this role is $38 to $40 per hour, depending on experience.
