Role overview
This is a Gladstone-based, Monday to Friday site position on a 12-month contract, with a strong chance that it may continue beyond the initial term. You will be part of a project owner’s team supporting the commercial delivery of a major industrial development in Gladstone, Queensland.
The position sits within an experienced owner-side environment and focuses on the administration of downstream contracts, handling variations and claims, keeping commercial documentation current, and helping manage risk throughout project execution. Competitive contract rates are on offer.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee downstream contract administration, covering variations, payment schedules, invoicing, and contract-related correspondence during the full delivery phase.
- Keep commercial registers and records up to date, including details of variations, delays, extensions of time, and site instructions.
- Review contractor notices and claims, and assist with the management and resolution of commercial disagreements and disputes.
- Build and maintain cost forecasts, flagging commercial issues and risks as soon as they are identified.
- Track contractor and supplier compliance with contract terms, commercial obligations, and project processes.
- Take part in commercial and project meetings, contribute commercial input, and support reporting activities.
- Identify contractual exposure and help develop mitigation actions to reduce cost, schedule, and contract risk.
About you
We are looking for someone with at least 5 years of experience in contract administration or a comparable commercial role, ideally gained on major projects or in construction settings. Site-based project experience in engineering, construction, infrastructure, or industrial work is important.
You should have a solid grasp of contract administration processes, including variations, claims, delays, extensions of time, and payment workflows. Strong commercial judgement, forecasting ability, cost control skills, and clear reporting capability are essential. You will also need excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, along with a practical, detail-focused approach.
Benefits
- Opportunity to contribute to a prominent greenfield industrial project.
- Work with a highly experienced and collaborative owner’s team.
- Gain long-term project exposure and meaningful career development opportunities.
- Receive competitive contract rates with a stable Monday to Friday roster.
- Initial 12-month contract with a strong possibility of extension.
