Role Overview
This position is focused on watching for cybersecurity threats, investigating alerts, and reacting quickly to incidents. The analyst helps safeguard the company’s digital environment, supports enforcement of security policies, and contributes to ongoing improvements in the organization’s security posture.
Key Responsibilities
- Track and review alerts generated by SIEM, EDR, NDR, and related security platforms.
- Carry out first-level assessment to determine alert severity, relevance, and potential impact.
- Forward confirmed alerts and suspicious behavior to the appropriate escalation level according to the response process.
- Record findings, actions taken, and supporting evidence accurately in the ticketing system.
- Join daily SOC shift handovers and provide brief, clear updates to the incoming team.
- Check SIEM dashboards, correlation logic, and data source availability at the beginning of each shift.
- Perform basic analysis of phishing attempts and malware samples using sandboxing and threat intelligence resources.
- Spot repeated false positives and raise them for tuning or rule refinement.
- Work in line with SOC playbooks and standard operating procedures, maintain shift discipline, and meet SLA commitments.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar discipline is required. The role expects more than 2 years of experience in cybersecurity, IT security, or network/system administration, along with practical exposure as a system security engineer or information security analyst.
Technical Experience
- Experience designing, supporting, and maintaining security systems.
- Strong understanding of database and operating system security.
- Hands-on use of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, antivirus tools, authentication systems, log management solutions, and content filtering technologies.
- Working knowledge of network protocols, network administration, and network installation.
- Ability to prepare clear written reports and supporting documentation.
