About the role
Join a high-impact cyber security team protecting the systems and information that keep Aotearoa connected. In this position, you will help NZ Post design, deploy, and continually refine security controls so the organisation’s platforms stay resilient against a changing threat environment.
This role blends day-to-day operational improvement with broader strategic work across a diverse technology estate. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and security partners to strengthen the organisation’s overall security posture and embed sound security practices across the business.
What you will do
- Build, implement, and enhance cyber security controls and supporting platforms.
- Oversee security tools, checking they remain effective, reliable, and fit for purpose.
- Assist with incident response, security investigations, and root-cause analysis.
- Take ownership of small to medium security projects and tool rollouts.
- Offer technical input during project delivery and SDLC activities.
- Coordinate with vendors and partners to achieve strong security outcomes.
About you
You are a practical cyber security professional who enjoys solving complex issues across a broad technical environment. You bring strong hands-on capability, a curious approach, and the confidence to work with a range of stakeholders to deliver effective security solutions.
Your background includes a solid understanding of internet and enterprise technologies, along with the ability to assess how systems connect and where weaknesses may exist. You are comfortable working with Microsoft security and identity capabilities in modern environments.
You take ownership, communicate clearly, and remain composed when pressure is high. You also stay curious about emerging threats and are always looking for better ways to protect systems and data.
What you will bring
- Strong knowledge of internet technologies such as DNS, proxies, web services, and email services.
- Good understanding of firewalls, web applications, and VPN access patterns.
- Practical experience with Microsoft security tooling, including privileged access.
- Hands-on exposure to security platforms such as SIEM and IAM.
- Ability to assess risks, vulnerabilities, and threat trends.
- A self-directed, improvement-focused mindset.
Benefits
Permanent employees can access a range of benefits, including free secure onsite parking at Auckland locations, discounted health insurance for you and your family, special accommodation rates across New Zealand, retail discounts through partners, and an Employee Assistance Programme. Additional benefits are also available.
