About The Role
The Lab Assistant (Data Entry Representative I) plays a crucial role in the Specimen Processing Department at Quest Diagnostics, focusing on the precise and efficient input of patient and client data. This position operates on night shifts, from Tuesday to Saturday, 1:00 AM to 9:30 AM, at the Tucker, GA location. The role offers a competitive hourly wage starting at $17.75, with potential shift differentials. This position demands a high level of accuracy, strict adherence to compliance and HIPAA regulations, and the capacity to thrive in a dynamic, production-driven setting. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of specimen processing and data entry, thereby supporting the laboratory's overall operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Previous experience in data entry, ideally within a production or laboratory context, is preferred.
- Possesses strong organizational capabilities and a keen eye for detail.
- Demonstrates the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Exhibits excellent communication skills.
- Capable of accurately interpreting visual information.
- Proficient in transcribing and verifying critical information such as account numbers, order codes, and patient demographics.
- Physically capable of prolonged sitting and maintaining concentration.
- Familiarity with HIPAA and compliance policies pertinent to specimen handling.
- Proven ability to meet productivity and accuracy targets within set deadlines.
- Adaptable and willing to learn new job functions and understand departmental workflows.
Responsibilities
- Accurately identify and confirm client account numbers, patient demographics, and order codes within the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Execute all data entry tasks with efficiency and within established timeframes.
- Ensure all submitted requisitions contain precise and complete information.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA and all other regulatory standards.
- Perform effectively in a fast-paced environment, consistently meeting productivity and quality benchmarks.
- Exhibit strong attention to detail and the capacity for independent work.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of the interconnections between various functions within the Specimen Processing Department.
- Comply with all departmental policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
- Strive to meet and exceed productivity and accuracy goals, aiming for 100% accuracy within six months.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisors to support departmental operations.
