Role overview
Team Global Express is hiring a full-time Dispatch Officer for its courier operations team in Woodville, South Australia. The position focuses on improving fleet efficiency across pickups and deliveries, making sure both ongoing and one-off runs are assigned in a balanced and effective way, and keeping customer service front and centre.
In this role, you will help run day-to-day dispatch activity, assist drivers, and make sure service standards are met consistently across metropolitan Adelaide and the wider Adelaide region.
Normal working hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm. Some flexibility is needed to cover leave and occasionally support the morning shift.
Key responsibilities
- Use the dispatch system to assign regular and ad hoc runs.
- Match vehicle availability and driver capacity to the day’s operational requirements.
- Plan delivery routes and pass on run instructions for major customers.
- Receive, schedule, and allocate jobs with complete and accurate details.
- Track delays, operational issues, and service impacts, and share updates quickly.
- Log driver hours, waiting periods, and any daily job changes.
- Assist with invoice accuracy using operational records.
- Work in line with company rules and legal compliance requirements.
- Help onboard drivers, including training and correct use of TED units.
- Support safety and HSE obligations, including incident reporting and follow-up.
Candidate profile
The right person will be dependable, well organised, and comfortable in a busy transport setting. You should be detail-oriented, able to juggle multiple priorities, and confident communicating with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
Requirements and experience
- Background in dispatch, transport coordination, or logistics operations.
- Solid understanding of fleet allocation and route planning.
- Strong administration skills and accurate data handling.
- Ability to manage urgent tasks under pressure.
- Customer-first approach with clear communication skills.
- Knowledge of transport compliance and Chain of Responsibility principles is preferred.
