About the role

Boots UK is hiring a store-based Dispenser to join its pharmacy team in Leicester. In this position, you will support the pharmacist and other healthcare colleagues in delivering pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently. The work is centered in the healthcare area of the store and involves regular interaction with patients, helping them with prescriptions, medicines, and general health guidance.

The role is customer-facing and focused on building trust with patients by listening to their concerns, understanding their needs, and offering helpful advice within your scope of knowledge. You will contribute to everyday patient care by greeting customers, dispensing prescriptions, and supporting the safe supply of medicines.

This position must be carried out in a UK store location. Remote working is not available. Applications from people outside the UK will only move forward if they can provide relevant UK qualifications and confirmed proof of the right to work in the UK.

Core duties

• Prepare and dispense prescriptions while helping ensure medicines are supplied safely, including ordering, labelling, endorsing, and handing out prescriptions.
• Work alongside pharmacy and healthcare colleagues to support the delivery and day-to-day management of pharmacy services.
• Offer guidance to patients about medicines and refer questions to the pharmacist when needed.
• Follow standard operating procedures to help keep dispensing activities safe and legally compliant.
• Stay current with in-store changes, new tools, and operational procedures.
• Help patients manage repeat prescriptions effectively so they can take medicines as intended and avoid unnecessary waste.
• Use new store technologies and systems that improve dispensing workflows, strengthen patient safety, and free up more time for patient support.

Training and development

You will receive ongoing updates and training to build your healthcare knowledge. The company also offers development opportunities, including progression toward Pharmacy Technician training or opportunities within the store leadership team.

What you need

• A completed Pharmacy Advisor qualification at NVQ2 level, or equivalent, or currently studying and having completed the first year of an MPharm degree.
• Current UK right to work with valid evidence. This job cannot be sponsored under the Skilled Worker visa route.

Preferred experience

• Previous experience working in a community pharmacy setting would be an advantage.

The hourly pay for this position is £13.92, increasing up to £16.64 in selected London locations.
