Financial Controller

Overview

An opportunity is available for a Financial Controller to join a shipping and logistics business through Auxilia Group Recruitment. The position is permanent and is based on site in County Cork, Ireland.

What you will do

• Take full responsibility for the daily finance operation, covering accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
• Drive the month-end closing cycle from start to finish.
• Prepare management accounts that are accurate, timely, and supported by meaningful analysis and commentary.
• Serve as the main contact for both internal and external audit activity.
• Own the preparation of statutory financial statements and related filings.
• Oversee third-party accounting providers and their deliverables.
• Lead the finance team with strong accountability, standards, and performance focus.
• Continuously look for ways to improve processes and strengthen efficiency.

Requirements

• Professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent credential.
• Between 5 and 10 years of post-qualification experience at Financial Controller level.
• Solid experience across finance operations, reporting, and compliance.
• Previous involvement in managing outsourced finance operations is preferred.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Comfort working independently with complete ownership of responsibilities.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills.
• Practical, proactive, and hands-on approach.
• Outgoing, approachable, and easy to work with.
