What the Role Involves

Working under the guidance of the School Director and Lead Teacher, the teacher helps run everyday classroom activities and supports the delivery of Cadence Education programs. The role is centered on building a safe, caring, and engaging classroom that supports children’s physical, social, emotional, developmental, and behavioral needs, including children with IEPs. The teacher also helps maintain routines, deliver curriculum, and build respectful connections with children and families while staying aligned with safety and licensing expectations.

Key Duties

• Help maintain a classroom atmosphere where every child is treated with respect, kindness, and inclusion.
• Welcome children and families each day and contribute to professional, positive relationships.
• Recognize and respond to children’s developmental, behavioral, cultural, and learning needs, including support for IEPs and behavioral plans when directed.
• Assist the Lead Teacher with planning and carrying out age-appropriate curriculum and Cadence Signature Programs.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with families, colleagues, and leadership through approved systems and tools.
• Follow safety and supervision procedures, including proper reporting and documentation of incidents and accidents.
• Help manage, record, and escalate behavior concerns in line with company policies and classroom expectations.
• Comply with all policies and procedures set out in the employee handbook.
• Take part in meetings, training sessions, and professional development, which may be scheduled outside regular working hours.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong understanding of classroom safety practices, including name-to-face checks, allergy protocols, bottle-feeding procedures, and safe sleep requirements.
• Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a teaching team.
• Clear written and spoken communication in English.

Education and Experience

An associate degree or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related subject is preferred, though it is not mandatory if licensing requirements in the state are already met. Applicants should meet the minimum education and experience standards required by the state for the role. Prior experience in early childhood education or group care is an advantage.

Licensing and Compliance

The candidate must satisfy all state licensing requirements for a teacher in a licensed childcare center. The role also requires the ability to obtain and maintain the necessary background checks and health screenings. A CDA is preferred, but not essential if state requirements are fulfilled.

Scheduling Notes

Flexibility is important for this position. Work hours may shift depending on enrollment, staffing ratios, and operational needs. Shifts are not guaranteed to be exactly eight hours, and start and end times can vary from day to day.
