Position Overview
This is a permanent full-time role with a remote work arrangement based in Western Canada. The position supports Partners in Canadian Veterans Rehabilitation Services (PCVRS), which delivers rehabilitation-focused assessment and intervention services for Canadian Veterans facing challenges in returning to life after service because of service-related injury or illness.
The program uses a biopsychosocial-spiritual framework and is supported by an interdisciplinary clinical team experienced in managing complex situations such as chronic pain, ongoing symptoms after head injury, musculoskeletal injuries, and co-occurring mental health concerns that may affect recovery.
The Job Developer builds and maintains strong connections with employers and community organizations to form trusted partnerships. Through these relationships, the role promotes the hiring of Veterans and advocates for their recruitment into organizations. The position also requires strong awareness of regional labour market conditions and a focus on helping veterans reach their employment objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Grow and strengthen relationships with employers and community agencies to build a strong network of placement options that improve participant outcomes and experiences.
- Collaborate with job development colleagues across all regions to support national and multi-regional employer partnerships.
- Track participant job search activity and offer guidance, advice, and practical support to help prevent or resolve issues during the search process.
- Participate in employer events and forums to highlight the value of hiring Veterans and the advantages of partnering with PCVRS.
- Monitor labour market developments and work with RSS to align participants with suitable employment opportunities.
- Create and apply improvements to strengthen the job development process.
- Spot new ideas and approaches that can improve participant experience and outcomes related to job development.
Candidate Profile
- A certificate, diploma, or degree in Business Administration, Sales and Marketing, or Human Resources.
- At least three years of experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, in one or more of the following areas: job development, employment counselling, or customized employment.
- Background working with people who have complex musculoskeletal conditions and mental health concerns.
- Experience supporting individuals with mental or physical health challenges that create barriers to civilian life.
- Strong understanding of labour markets in the assigned region.
- Advanced digital skills, including case management systems, MS Office, MS Teams, SharePoint, the internet, social media, and LinkedIn.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build trust, establish new relationships, and work with different stakeholders toward shared goals.
- Willingness to work outside standard PCVRS hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm when needed to support employer and participant communication.
- Valid driver’s licence, access to a reliable vehicle, and ability to travel.
- Employment is conditional on obtaining federal Reliability Status security clearance.
