Overview
We are looking for a detail-focused Junior Quality Engineer with practical manual testing experience to support software quality across the full testing cycle. In this role, you will help verify that applications behave as expected by planning tests, executing scenarios, logging defects, and confirming fixes.
This position is well-suited to an early-career testing professional who wants to grow in a collaborative, quick-moving environment.
Role Details
- Location: Yeovil, UK
- Work arrangement: Hybrid, with 3 days each week onsite in Yeovil
- Assignment length: 6 months
- Employment type: Contract
Key Responsibilities
- Run manual test cases and test scenarios aligned to business and technical needs.
- Record, manage, and monitor software defects through defect tracking tools.
- Carry out functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing.
- Work with developers, business analysts, and product stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
- Check bug fixes and repeat tests to confirm problems are resolved.
- Contribute to test planning, test case preparation, and review of test execution.
- Help ensure releases satisfy quality expectations before deployment.
- Keep test records and documentation accurate and up to date.
Required Experience and Skills
The ideal candidate should have 3 to 5 years of manual software testing experience and a solid grasp of the software testing life cycle and defect management practices. Experience with test case, scenario, and script creation is important, along with familiarity in functional, regression, integration, and UAT testing. Exposure to defect tracking platforms such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar tools is also expected. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, communication, and teamwork are key to success in this role.
