Role overview
This is a full-time Kitchen Assistant position within a long-established care home in Crewe, Cheshire. The home supports 51 residents and focuses on providing a warm, respectful setting that promotes independence and helps residents enjoy the fullest possible quality of life. Services include permanent residential care, dementia care, respite support, holiday stays and short-term care.
The Kitchen Assistant will work alongside the Cook to keep kitchen operations running smoothly and safely, with a particular focus on hygiene, infection control, COSHH handling, and wider health and safety standards.
Key duties
- Support food and beverage preparation and service.
- Carry out straightforward cooking tasks when needed.
- Handle everyday kitchen and dining room work such as washing up, laying tables, and clearing items away.
- Help keep the kitchen, equipment, and surrounding areas clean, orderly, and safe.
- Take part in team meetings when requested.
- Escalate any misuse or unnecessary waste of supplies and resources to the Home Manager.
Skills and experience needed
- Ability to work well within a team and contribute to a safe, welcoming, and trusting atmosphere.
- Clear and effective communication skills.
- Good interpersonal approach when dealing with care home residents.
- Consistently professional conduct.
- Up-to-date mandatory training or willingness to keep it current as required.
- Satisfactory DBS clearance.
- Commitment to maintaining and improving job-related knowledge and competence.
Additional information
Location: Crewe, Cheshire, United Kingdom.
Pay: £12.71 per hour.
Employment: Full time, onsite.
