Role overview
This position acts as the overnight manager on duty for the property. The role is responsible for directing hotel operations during the night shift, maintaining a premium guest experience, and stepping in to resolve guest or property issues as they arise. It also includes hands-on support with urgent tasks and coordination with the wider management team.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee property operations throughout the overnight shift and ensure standards are consistently met.
- Act as the manager on duty and handle guest or property concerns with prompt, effective action.
- Confirm that service delivery remains at the highest hospitality level during night operations.
- Monitor operational compliance, employee presentation, grooming, and safe working conditions.
- Review inventories at period end and support accurate operational controls.
- Analyze financial statements, sales reports, and other performance data to track productivity and spot improvement opportunities.
- Support the handling of guest complaints and work with Guest Relations when issues are escalated.
- Assist with accounts receivable follow-up so outstanding invoices remain under 60 days.
- Track chargebacks and rebates, make sure they are processed quickly, and help reduce them as much as possible.
- Ensure cash handling procedures are followed and oversee any overages or shortages.
- Manage employee hours and coordinate with leadership on plans to avoid repeat guest issues.
- Encourage safety participation, teamwork, strong morale, and clear communication of new procedures or standards.
- Support supervisors with employee performance matters such as reviews, coaching, and recommendations.
- Ensure staff know emergency procedures and help organize morale-building activities and incentives.
- Assist with weekly payroll processing for employees.
Candidate profile
The employer is looking for someone with either a high school diploma or GED plus 4 years of experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or a similar area, or a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field plus 2 years of relevant experience.
