PM Group’s Outsourced Technical Services (OTS) team works with global organisations across a wide range of industries to support their short- and long-term staffing and project needs. The company is hiring a Project Engineer to work on a client site as part of the base capital projects function. In this role, you will coordinate the delivery of multiple onsite projects and help drive capital project execution. The position suits someone with a strong background in multidisciplinary engineering project teams and experience in sectors such as Food, BioPharma, Pharma, or Medtech.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver capital projects in line with engineering, environmental, and regulatory best practices.
- Manage all stages of project delivery, including design, purchasing, budgeting, installation, testing, factory acceptance testing, validation, commissioning, and final handover of new process equipment and safety-related upgrades.
- Define project opportunities and develop the business case and scope.
- Agree project requirements covering technical needs, ATEX, CIP, machinery safety / CE marking, and cleanability.
- Prepare the Request for Proposal (RFP) and User Requirement Specification (URS), then issue them to contractors.
- Send tender documentation to contractors and support the process through to award.
- Prepare CAPEX paperwork and obtain the required approvals.
- Take part in HAZOP reviews.
- Create change control documentation before work or modifications begin onsite.
- Join project kickoff meetings with stakeholders and contractors from process, electrical, automation, and civil disciplines.
- Attend constructability reviews covering items such as scaffolding, MEWPs, hot works, crane lifts, and related site activities.
- Approve project schedules and track timelines, milestones, and the critical path throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain snag lists, weld logs, test packs, inspection plans, redline drawings, and P&ID updates.
- Review and approve contractor technical submissions such as material details, equipment datasheets, tank drawings, and isometrics.
- Review method statements before permits to work are issued for activities including cold works, hot works, work at height, confined space entry, red tagging, and LOTO.
- Respond promptly and effectively to contractor RFIs.
- Lead weekly progress meetings and weekly safety review meetings.
- Ensure project changes are communicated to the relevant departments.
Requirements
- A degree in Process, Chemical, Mechanical, or another relevant engineering discipline.
- Previous experience in a heavily regulated environment such as BioPharma, Pharma, medical devices, Food, or semiconductors.
- Exposure to utility systems including chillers, HVAC, and purified water systems.
- Experience directing or supervising construction projects is beneficial.
- Strong project management capability.
- Clear communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
- A proactive, hands-on attitude and strong drive to deliver results.
