Project Estimator

About the Role

CG Jones Construction is expanding and is looking for a Project Estimator to join its commercial construction team. The company works as a general contractor in site development, commercial building, underground utilities, and concrete work, and it values safe practices, quality workmanship, collaboration, and a professional approach. This opportunity is aimed at someone who wants to grow a long-term career with a contractor that is investing in its Preconstruction team.

The position is based in Tuscumbia, Alabama and is a full-time, in-office role. Projects are mainly in Northwest Alabama, with growing work in Northeast Mississippi and Southern Tennessee. Relocation support is not offered.

What You’ll Do

• Create reliable cost estimates for commercial construction projects.
• Examine architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings and specification documents.
• Complete quantity takeoffs and support project pricing efforts.
• Request, compare, and assess pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Build bid submissions and project budgets.
• Work closely with project managers, superintendents, and company leaders during the bidding process.
• Keep estimating records and project documentation well organized.
• Support value engineering and preconstruction budgeting work as needed.

What We’re Looking For

• At least 5 years of experience in commercial construction.
• Background with a commercial general contractor is preferred.
• Ability to understand and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Good organizational and analytical abilities.
• Strong communication skills and solid computer proficiency.
• Self-driven approach with close attention to detail.
• Prior estimating experience is helpful, though not mandatory.
