About the role
This opportunity sits within Sainsbury’s marketing team, where work happens at scale across a major UK supermarket business and its retail platforms. The environment spans brand planning, communications, creative, digital marketing, CRM, loyalty, Nectar 360 and insights, with strong links to external agencies and internal teams. The position is based in London and is designed for someone who enjoys fast-moving, collaborative work and wants to grow their social media career in a large consumer brand.
Why you’ll enjoy working here
As a Social Media Associate, you’ll partner closely with the Social Media Lead to develop and deliver organic social activity that strengthens brand connection and customer engagement. You’ll have access to modern tools, support from specialist teams and agencies, and the chance to contribute to a busy and creative social presence across multiple channels.
What you’ll do
You’ll help run the organic social channels by producing content for campaigns, always-on activity and recipe-led posts. A key part of the role is creating strong video assets and compelling captions for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and Meta, while helping manage the content calendar and supporting delivery of the wider social strategy.
You’ll also work with the in-house agency team to coordinate content creation, attend shoots, keep the brand active across platforms and make sure all activity follows social governance requirements. Monitoring performance, measuring results and reporting on social activity will also be part of your day-to-day work.
Who you are
You should be a creative thinker with a genuine interest in food and a strong grasp of social media trends and platform behaviour, especially on Instagram, Meta and TikTok. The ideal person is organised, comfortable handling several priorities at once and able to work under pressure in a quick-moving environment.
You’ll need confidence in copywriting, content creation and producing food or recipe content, along with practical experience using editing tools such as Photoshop, Canva and CapCut. Independence, problem-solving ability and cross-functional teamwork are important for success in this role.
Essential criteria
- Hands-on experience producing and publishing social content for Instagram, TikTok and Meta.
- Experience filming food and recipe-based content.
- Practical use of content editing tools such as Photoshop, Canva or CapCut.
- Experience working with a social media calendar and campaign schedules.
Benefits
Sainsbury’s offers a broad benefits package that includes colleague discount of 10% on shopping online and in store at Sainsbury’s, Argos, TU and Habitat, with periodic increases to 15% at certain times of the year. You’ll also have access to a pension scheme, life cover and the potential for a performance-related bonus of up to 5% of salary, depending on company results.
Additional support includes annual holiday entitlement with the option to buy up to one extra week, season ticket loans, a cycle to work scheme, health cash plans, salary advance access, retail discounts from many other partners and an employee assistance programme. The company also supports family leave with up to 26 weeks’ pay for maternity or adoption leave and up to 4 weeks’ pay for paternity leave. Flexible working may be available where possible, and development support is part of the culture.
Additional information
The role is part of a collaborative retail and marketing environment where colleagues are encouraged to try new things and contribute across evolving teams. Eligibility rules and length-of-service conditions may apply to some benefits.
