About The Flex
The Flex is building a new way to rent homes by making the experience as smooth and effortless as booking a ride. Its long-term goal is to let people live anywhere, at any time, without unnecessary friction.
Backed by Base360.ai, the company’s own automation platform, the team is creating the operating system for modern renting. This system connects property data, coordinates operations, automates workflows, and supports seamless stays across multiple regions.
Role Overview
This position is for an ambitious engineer who wants to build high-leverage systems that scale. The work is hands-on and practical: you will build, release, automate, and solve real operational problems that affect thousands of guests and properties.
If you enjoy working with APIs, automation, AI agents, cloud infrastructure, and product development from the ground up, this role is a strong match.
What You’ll Build
As a Founding Software Engineer, you will contribute to the architecture and growth of Base360.ai, the technology platform behind The Flex’s operations.
You will develop internal tools, automation engines, AI-driven workflows, integrations, and operational systems that remove manual effort and help the business expand globally.
Your work will influence guest journeys, property operations, pricing intelligence, and AI-supported decision-making.
Key Mission Areas
- Design and build scalable services, applications, and APIs that support bookings, pricing, payments, guest experiences, and day-to-day operations.
- Create event-driven automations that replace repetitive human tasks.
- Develop AI-based systems using LLMs, AI agents, and machine intelligence to improve efficiency, decisions, and customer experience.
- Build API-first architecture that enables smooth communication between internal tools, external providers, and future products.
- Develop and maintain integrations with Airbnb, Hostaway, Stripe, Twilio, OpenAI, Google, and other strategic platforms.
- Deploy and manage cloud-native infrastructure with a focus on reliability, performance, and international scale.
- Solve operational challenges such as reservation syncing, dynamic pricing, smart key handling, guest messaging, forecasting, cleaning coordination, maintenance automation, and AI-powered alerts.
- Own projects from concept through deployment and keep improving the systems you deliver.
Tech Stack
The company values capability more than a fixed stack, but the current environment includes Python, FastAPI, React, TypeScript, Supabase, PostgreSQL, AWS, serverless architecture, OpenAI APIs, Twilio, Stripe, Docker, and GitHub Actions.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The right candidate should have strong experience building production-ready software systems, good familiarity with frameworks such as FastAPI, Python, React, or similar tools, and a solid understanding of APIs, distributed systems, and cloud architecture.
You should be comfortable designing scalable backend systems, working independently with limited supervision, solving problems with a product mindset, and moving quickly with a strong bias toward execution.
Curiosity about AI, automation, and operational efficiency is important. Prior exposure to PropTech, marketplace products, AI agents, workflow automation, event-driven architecture, Supabase, or AWS serverless systems would be an advantage.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 12 months, the systems you build should automate core operational processes, reduce manual work across the business, support reliable new integrations, and make AI-powered workflows part of everyday operations. Over time, Base360.ai should become a meaningful advantage that helps the company scale quickly across the world.
Why Join The Flex
This is an opportunity to create work that directly affects how people live, travel, and experience cities around the world. You will be given genuine ownership, the freedom to make decisions, and the chance to shape systems that matter.
You will work in a small team with direct access to the founders, gaining strong influence over product and technical direction while learning across software, AI, automation, operations, and scale.
The role offers performance-based rewards, including competitive compensation with significant upside for exceptional contributors. It is also remote-first, with an emphasis on outcomes rather than hours.
Who This Role Is Not For
- People who want a slow-moving corporate environment.
- People who prefer maintaining existing systems instead of creating new ones.
- People who need detailed instructions for every task.
- People who avoid ownership and accountability.
- People whose standard is simply “good enough.”
Additional Information
The company is not hiring someone just to fill a seat. It is looking for a person who wants to help build the future operating system for modern renting.
