Role overview
This role is for an experienced sourcing leader focused on CapEx and MRO/category management in Quebec, Canada. The position calls for someone who can shape category strategy, drive delivery, and work comfortably in a consulting-oriented environment. Strong foresight, risk awareness, and adaptability are key to succeeding in this assignment.
Key responsibilities
- Lead strategic sourcing programs across MRO and services spend categories.
- Create and roll out sourcing plans that improve cost, quality, and delivery outcomes.
- Work closely with teams in manufacturing, engineering, and finance to ensure sourcing aligns with business priorities.
- Negotiate agreements and maintain supplier partnerships that deliver durable value.
- Study market movements and supplier strengths to uncover new sourcing opportunities.
- Run RFQ, RFP, and supplier assessment activities.
- Facilitate internal and external governance discussions, with attention to savings and productivity, escalation handling, change management, and sourcing initiatives.
- Visit plants to strengthen stakeholder relationships.
- Address escalations from key stakeholders and build strong networks within client organizations to prepare for future challenges.
- Spot and implement transformation opportunities that support the client’s business goals.
Qualifications and experience
A bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent foreign qualification, is required from an accredited institution. Candidates with three years of progressive experience in the specialty may be considered in place of each year of formal education. The role expects at least 9 years of relevant experience.
Preferred background includes deep category experience in MRO areas such as industrial services, spare parts, utilities, equipment rental, consulting, catering, chemicals, and personnel transportation. Familiarity with RFI, RFP, RFQ, tender management, and e-sourcing tools such as Coupa, Ariba, Xeneta, and Bravo is desirable. Experience in a food manufacturing environment or a large engineering/automotive manufacturing organization is also preferred, and exposure to aggregators is an added advantage.
Skills and working style
The ideal candidate should bring excellent communication and networking ability, strong stakeholder influence, and the capacity to juggle multiple priorities in a high-pressure setting. The role also requires comfort with long periods of computer-based work and the ability to communicate effectively by phone, email, and in person.
Language requirement
Fluency in French Canadian is mandatory.
