Turnaround Static Equipment Engineer

Job Purpose

This role supports the full turnaround lifecycle — from planning and preparation through execution and close-out — by working with the turnaround coordination team, operations, maintenance, inspection, engineering, contractors, and other support groups.

The position is responsible for making sure assigned turnaround items, readiness tasks, work packs, materials, manpower, and contractor needs are tracked and delivered in line with approved timelines, quality expectations, HSE requirements, and turnaround procedures.

It also involves following turnaround progress, helping manage risks and scope changes, solving day-to-day execution issues, and contributing to the overall goals for schedule, cost, quality, and operational readiness.

Key Accountabilities

• Track the execution approach for static equipment turnaround work, including detailed scheduling, use of resources, and clear coordination among stakeholders and contractors to keep activities on time.
• Work closely with all involved teams to support smooth field execution, agree on priorities, resolve issues, and put recovery actions in place when delays occur.
• Use schedules, performance indicators, and trend reviews to monitor turnaround progress, spot deviations, and apply corrective actions.
• Revise and control schedules when unplanned or newly identified work appears during the turnaround, ensuring any changes are reviewed and approved properly.
• Confirm execution readiness by checking that materials, labor, tools, permits, and other required inputs are available before work starts.
• Assist with mechanical completion, punch-list closure, and pre-startup checks to support a safe and efficient restart.
• Promote effective communication across all teams to maintain progress visibility, solve problems quickly, and recover schedule slippage.
• Report turnaround milestone progress and follow up actions during the pre-turnaround preparation phase.
• Maintain complete turnaround records such as work lists, execution plans, schedules, risk logs, and close-out reports.
• Ensure all turnaround information is captured accurately in centralized systems for traceability and later reference.
• Monitor risks, issues, and action items, and ensure they are resolved on time or escalated when necessary.
• Help build team capability in turnaround planning methods, scheduling applications, and industry best practices.
• Keep SAP master data for turnaround preventive maintenance up to date, including task lists, maintenance plans, and equipment assignments.
• Identify and correct SAP data issues such as inconsistencies, duplication, and missing information to improve planning accuracy.
• Support linking SAP master data with planning platforms such as Primavera so schedules and resource plans remain aligned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, ideally Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 5 years of direct and relevant experience in a similar position, preferably within fertilizer operations.
• Strong knowledge of machines, components, inspection types, and different equipment such as vessels, boilers, and piping.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA EAM and Primavera P6 will be an added advantage.
