Role Overview
The Vice President – Data Analysis will own and drive the bank’s enterprise analytics agenda, turning data into actionable insights that support decisions across the organization. The role focuses on executive reporting, KPI design, dashboard development, performance analysis, and business intelligence solutions that generate measurable value. The position also leads a team of analysts while partnering with different business areas to improve profitability, streamline operations, and maintain internal and regulatory compliance.
The ideal profile includes strong capability in advanced SQL, data modeling, Python, DWH and lakehouse design, ETL/ELT development, BI and reporting tools, data reconciliation, banking-domain analytics, workflow automation, Databricks or similar platforms, and data governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of analysts, BI developers, and MIS specialists by setting clear goals, KPIs, and accountability measures.
- Define team OKRs that align with strategic priorities, business growth, and digital transformation plans.
- Establish enterprise-wide KPIs, reporting standards, and executive dashboards linked to financial and strategic objectives.
- Develop financial models, profitability analysis, and scenario-planning outputs to support senior leadership decisions.
- Use advanced analytics to improve outcomes in lending, deposits, fee income, and other revenue-generating areas.
- Ensure BI investments are aligned with business priorities and deliver strong return on investment.
- Carry out cost-efficiency analysis for operational processes using benchmarking and variance analysis.
- Support initiatives related to customer retention, net promoter score improvement, and cross-sell analytics.
- Assess the effect of pricing, interest rate, and commission changes through dynamic analytical models.
- Identify and reduce financial risk exposure through key risk indicators and early-warning models.
- Exercise delegated authority responsibly and manage team delegation with appropriate oversight.
- Translate data into insights that help business units make customer-focused decisions.
- Partner with retail, corporate, international, and digital banking teams to deliver tailored performance reporting.
- Work with marketing, CRM, and product teams to improve campaign outcomes and customer segmentation.
- Oversee analytics programs that support onboarding, retention, upselling, loyalty, and digital adoption.
- Provide live dashboards and alerts through self-service BI environments for business users.
- Lead quarterly business reviews and present insight-driven reporting packs to senior executives.
- Build relationships with external vendors and service providers for benchmark studies and advanced analytics support.
- Respond to customer product-related queries and help route them to suitable solutions where needed.
- Maintain service-level commitments with internal departments to improve turnaround time.
- Coordinate closely with related teams to support group objectives and business alignment.
- Provide accurate and timely data to internal and external auditors, compliance, financial control, and risk teams when required.
- Own the end-to-end analytics lifecycle from requirements gathering through delivery and refinement.
- Create standardized business metric definitions and metadata repositories to ensure consistency across departments.
- Lead cross-functional groups working on analytics use cases spanning finance, risk, treasury, operations, and compliance.
- Implement analytics frameworks that improve operational efficiency and support cost-optimization initiatives.
- Ensure data architecture and reporting workflows comply with QCB, GDPR, and NDCP requirements.
- Review, validate, and approve important business models before they are deployed.
- Work with data governance and quality teams to ensure analytical outputs are audit-ready.
- Assess and implement workflow tools that connect analytics with enterprise systems such as CRM and core banking platforms.
- Set an example by leading improvement initiatives through cross-functional collaboration.
- Encourage better-than-industry-standard practices and foster innovative thinking within the team.
- Promote new ideas and recognize practical innovation in everyday work.
- Create a learning roadmap covering technical development and business storytelling for the analytics team.
- Promote analytical curiosity and an insight-led decision-making culture across business users.
- Build a knowledge-sharing environment using playbooks, case studies, and performance metrics.
- Introduce cross-training so analysts gain exposure across different domains and grow professionally.
- Stay updated on analytics trends, AI/ML tools, and cloud analytics capabilities in financial services.
- Mentor senior analysts in framing business problems as analytical questions and solution paths.
- Run monthly innovation forums to highlight high-impact analytics use cases across the group.
- Drive data literacy initiatives across business units to improve adoption of BI solutions.
- Meet staff regularly to review individual and team performance.
- Address unresolved grievances or conflicts promptly and decisively.
- Identify growth opportunities for employees and coach them toward higher responsibility.
- Ensure complete compliance with QCB, NDCP, and international data protection and analytics governance standards.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and evidence as the analytics lead.
- Put in place review workflows for reports containing sensitive KPIs or confidential customer data.
- Maintain audit trails, access controls, and documentation standards for critical analytical assets.
- Assist Regulatory and Risk teams with analytics for RCSA, KRI, internal capital adequacy, and Basel reporting.
- Ensure approved business models are used correctly throughout their lifecycle for executive decisions.
- Align analytics programs with conduct risk and data protection policies.
- Work with Compliance and Internal Audit to investigate data breaches or unauthorized access.
- Complete all mandatory bank training and maintain the required competence level.
- Attend mandatory internal and external seminars as directed by the bank.
- Protect commercially sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
- Share customer and internal information strictly on a need-to-know basis with authorized senior management, audit, compliance, and relevant regulators.
- Maintain professional standards that strengthen the bank’s reputation and market position.
- Perform other ad hoc duties connected to QNB as assigned by management.
- Develop succession planning and capability-mapping frameworks for the analytics function.
- Build an inclusive, high-performance culture focused on accountability and innovation.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and development of strong analytical talent.
- Create governance policies for dashboard publishing, metric ownership, and release management.
- Represent analytics in technology and governance steering committees.
- Conduct performance reviews, identify skills gaps, and implement targeted development plans.
Education and Experience
- A university degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Economics, Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
- A master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
- At least 12 years of experience in data analytics, including 8 years in senior leadership roles within banking or financial services, is required.
- Experience leading enterprise BI strategies and delivering measurable business outcomes is expected.
