About the company
Aerolab is a New Zealand business focused on helping customers take to the skies. It is the country’s largest commercial drone supplier and works at the leading edge of agricultural spray and wash drone technology. The position also supports DroneTrust, a related business and New Zealand’s biggest drone certification platform. Both teams operate from Mt Wellington and are expanding quickly.
Role overview
This is a full-time, video-first content position. Your main responsibility will be capturing and editing video for social media, advertising, and training content across Aerolab and DroneTrust. You will also handle some photo retouching and lighter design tasks such as templates and ad visuals. As you settle into the role, there will be opportunities to take ownership of social posting and broaden your experience into marketing.
The job includes time in the field filming drone operations, along with attendance at industry events and demonstrations. Some of these may involve travel beyond the local area and occasionally longer working days. You will work closely with the marketing and leadership teams on a daily basis.
Key duties
- Create and edit video content for social channels, promotional campaigns, and instructional or explainer materials.
- Go on location to record drones in action, including nearby sites and occasional events or demos further away.
- Produce and refine advertising and social media creative assets.
- Progress into publishing and managing content across the company’s social media accounts.
- Work with internal teams to support campaigns and maintain content schedules.
What we are looking for
Experience and skill matter, but attitude is a major factor for this opportunity. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in drones, agriculture, or the technology that connects the two. They should be comfortable working outdoors, willing to put in longer hours when required for events or on-site work, and eager to grow within the business. Strong camera and editing ability is important, but a proactive mindset and enthusiasm are valued just as highly.
Skills and capabilities
- Confident shooting video and working smoothly in editing software.
- Basic photo editing and retouching skills.
- Foundational graphic design ability for templates and advertising assets.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
- Self-directed working style and comfort handling tasks independently.
- Drone piloting ability is an advantage, though training can be provided if needed.
What’s on offer
- A starting wage matched to your skills and experience.
- Access to all required software and equipment.
- Hands-on, varied work from day one, including field-based assignments.
- A defined development path into social media management and wider marketing responsibilities.
- A supportive, close-knit team committed to quality work.
How to apply
Applicants should submit a CV together with a portfolio or showreel. A Google Drive folder with selected work is acceptable. You should also include a short note about yourself and why this position appeals to you. Applications that do not include a portfolio sample will not be reviewed.
Additional information
This role is based in Mt Wellington and is field-oriented, so you should be prepared for outdoor work, event attendance, and the occasional longer day.
