Role overview
A family-run business in Lancing, West Sussex is hiring a Warehouse Operative to strengthen its small and expanding team. This role is central to delivering a dependable, efficient service to customers and includes both independent work and close teamwork.
You will report to the Warehouse Manager and handle a broad range of warehouse and production tasks. These include receiving goods, unloading containers, moving heavy items, manual handling, operating a forklift, picking and packing orders, dispatching landscaping products, and supporting some production work involving machinery.
Key duties
- Make sure customer orders are completed correctly and sent out without errors.
- Pick, pack, and dispatch orders accurately, on time, and as efficiently as possible.
- Clear back orders straight away.
- Send sample requests out quickly.
- Distribute marketing material and promotional items efficiently.
- Arrange supporting supplies in good time so distribution is not interrupted, including printer rolls, paper, pallets, wooden beams, screws, and power tool accessories.
- Carry out maintenance tasks around the site and yard when needed.
- Check machinery and tools for safe use, maintain them appropriately, and report any defects.
- Assist colleagues across the department whenever business needs require it.
- Keep all departmental areas clean, uncluttered, and safe to work in.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in a warehouse setting.
- Good physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy materials comfortably.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to solve problems and think creatively.
- Well-developed organisational skills.
- A forklift licence is strongly preferred.
- Experience with goods-in work and using an ERP system is also strongly preferred.
Benefits
- Permanent full-time position.
- 47.5 hours per week, including a paid 1-hour break.
- Working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 5:00pm.
- Hourly pay of £14.10.
