Recreation Manitoba is hiring a full-time Arena Operator for the Whitney Forum in Flin Flon, Manitoba. This is a practical, hands-on role focused on keeping the rink and facility running smoothly, cleanly, and safely for daily use.

What you will do

You will handle day-to-day arena operations, including cleaning, routine upkeep, ice preparation, equipment operation, and support for events and rental activities. The role also involves helping maintain a safe, user-friendly environment for everyone who uses the facility.

Key duties

• Run the ice resurfacing equipment as needed.
• Carry out regular cleaning and maintenance tasks across the facility.
• Support ice-making and related operational work.
• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot facility equipment.
• Assist with events and rentals at the arena.
• Help ensure the facility stays safe, functional, and welcoming.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a Grade 12 education or an equivalent level of schooling, a valid Class 5 driver’s licence, and the ability to work independently while also interacting well with the public. A Refrigeration Operator ticket and a Class 5 Power Engineer ticket are preferred, though the employer is open to candidates who are willing to obtain them. Strong maintenance and troubleshooting ability is important. Experience in plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, electrical, or general facility maintenance will be considered an advantage.

Working conditions

This position may involve shift work, weekend schedules, and occasional assignments at other Parks & Recreation facilities.
