Role overview

This position is for a Bartender at The Ritz-Carlton, Doha, a luxury resort in West Bay Lagoon, Doha, Qatar. The role is part of the Food and Beverage & Culinary function and is a full-time, non-management position. The hotel has been operating on the Arabian Gulf shoreline for nearly 24 years and features 374 rooms and suites, multiple dining venues, spa and fitness facilities, pools, a private beach, a Club Lounge, and event spaces for meetings and weddings.

What the role is about

You will be responsible for preparing beverages to a high standard and delivering polished, personalized service that reflects Marriott International and Ritz-Carlton luxury expectations. The role calls for consistent guest engagement, strong product knowledge, and a service style that creates memorable dining and bar experiences.

Key duties

• Create alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks using approved recipes and service standards.
• Offer warm, attentive, and tailored service to guests at the bar and in restaurant settings.
• Stay fully informed about drink menus, ingredients, and ongoing promotions.
• Suggest beverages based on guest tastes and increase sales through appropriate upselling.
• Set up the bar before service, making sure it is clean, complete, and well stocked.
• Serve alcohol responsibly and follow all relevant rules and legal requirements.
• Manage cash handling and payment processing with accuracy.
• Keep the bar area tidy, organized, and hygienic throughout service.
• Monitor inventory levels and flag shortages when needed.
• Work closely with the service team to keep operations running smoothly.
• Handle guest concerns professionally and escalate issues when appropriate.
• Follow Marriott and Ritz-Carlton service standards at all times.

Working conditions and physical demands

The role requires being on your feet for long periods, moving around regularly, and working on surfaces that may be uneven or slippery. You should be comfortable reading and checking menu details, and performing physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and reaching. Objects may weigh up to 25 pounds without assistance and up to 50 pounds with assistance. Professional appearance, proper grooming, and clear communication are expected. Work may include shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Experience and qualifications

Preferred education is a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Related work experience of less than 1 year is preferred, and no supervisory experience is required. Previous bartender experience in a luxury hotel or fine dining environment is an advantage, along with familiarity with international drink recipes, bar operations, and POS systems. English fluency is required, and additional languages are beneficial. No license or certification is needed.
