Role overview
This contract position is for a Business Systems Analyst / Data Analyst supporting a financial services environment in the Greater Toronto Area. The role focuses on data analysis, database development, regulatory monitoring, and coordination with vendors.
Key responsibilities
- Build and support Python scripts and SQL queries used for analysis and reporting.
- Work through data from several sources, including spreadsheets, by cleaning, checking, and validating it.
- Contribute to database development efforts and migration work.
- Review data activity logs to spot unusual patterns or possible compliance issues.
- Liaise with external vendors and help drive issue resolution.
- Prepare and update process documentation while suggesting improvements to existing workflows.
Required skills and experience
- Practical experience with Python, SQL, and Teradata.
- Background in data analysis, reporting, and working within database environments.
- Strong command of advanced Excel functions.
- Good analytical thinking, troubleshooting ability, and communication skills.
- Experience collaborating with stakeholders and handling several priorities at once.
Preferred skills
- Experience using JIRA.
- Exposure to vendor relationship management.
- Familiarity with Power BI or Tableau.
- Previous work in financial services, risk, or regulatory settings.
